Many people who want to learn to drive will consider taking an intensive crash course where the will have extensive lessons everyday over a week or so, resulting in a test at the end. Learning to ride a motorcycle is a little more complex as there are additional training that must be completed first. Before a potential motorcyclist can be allowed to take the theory or practical tests the must first complete a CBT test, compulsory basic training. Essentially, the purpose of this test is to ensure that the candidate understands how to operate a motorcycle and some basic road safety techniques.

However, once somebody has completed their practical motorcycle test they're only permitted to ride motorcycles of a certain power. Any motorcycle they ride must be restricted and have the appropriate 33bhp certificate. If they want to ride a motorcycle without a 33bhp certificate then they must take an additional test to allow them to legally ride more powerful motorcycles.

If you're looking for a driving school in your local area that operates intensive courses then you'll find that they can be quite expensive. However, they often have a very high pass rate. Despite this some people may be more comfortable learning to drive at a slower pace, as driving can be quite intimidating for new road users.
